By funding a project you can track exactly where your dollars are going. Below are a few examples of how you can help. If you have a project idea of your own that could help the children of Frankie Lemmon School, please call us at 919.845.8880.
Cost of school lunches for 25 children for the year: $9,500
Wake County Public School System delivers lunches to the children at Frankie Lemmon Foundation. The cost of these lunches is $360 per child per year. We are currently seeking funding to underwrite the cost of these lunches for each school year.
Therapy Costs: $78,000
An individualized education plan is developed for each child with assistance from the parents, and parent involvement is encouraged. The curriculum places special emphasis on communication skills and personal independence.
Specialized therapies are provided if a child’s education plan specifies the need. Frankie Lemmon has a full-time speech therapist on staff. In addition, we contract for the following therapies:
Occupational 3 times a week
Physical 2 times a week
Hearing 1 time a week
Visual 1 time a week
Music Therapy: $5,400
Frankie Lemmon School contracts with Carolina Music Therapy 2 hours a week. The therapist comes in once a week and spends 30 minutes with each classroom and 30 minutes consulting with staff. Music therapy is the use of music by a qualified professional such as the ones at Carolina Music Therapy to improve or maintain the children’s physical, cognitive, social, and/or psychological functioning.
Professional Evaluations: $4,500
Frankie Lemmon Foundation contracts with Southeast Family Services to conduct psychological evaluations on children as needed. If the therapists that see the children recommend an evaluation then the school and the therapist works with Southeast Family Services to ensure a quality evaluation. Each evaluation costs $750.
Technology (laptop, printer, fax, scanner): $5,000
The school is always in need of new equipment for administrative purposes as well as for the classroom teachers.
Classroom equipment/materials: $5,000
The school is always in need of funds to cover the costs of materials in the classroom such as paper, books, education toys, blocks, puzzles and beads.
Family Emergency Fund: $5,000
Since Frankie Lemmon has children from all socio-economic backgrounds we try to keep a fund to help our families who may need it at certain times during the year to help pay utility bills, put gas in the car, pay for groceries or buy gifts for their children on holidays.
Volunteer: FREE but invaluable
We always need volunteers for events and various projects. Please contact our offices for detailed opportunities and to join our team.
